"Vegetarian burger", "Non-alcoholic beer" and our health.

I always wonder when I see somewhere promotion for burger without meat or an alcohol-free beer.

If I decided to be a vegetarian, why do I need to create the illusion that I can enjoy typical meat dishes without eating meat.

We all know that beer without alcohol just doesn't taste like beer, so why do we require alcohol-free beer. Let's have water, tea or lemonade when we can't get our favorite beer behind the wheel.

The copy will always be a copy and will never taste like the "original".

But what does this have to do with our health?

As far as health and health problems are concerned, it is unfortunately the same for most of us.

Yes, this is largely the result of being part of a society where responsibility for personal health has shifted to doctors and health insurers.

And apparently, it is also because most of us are looking for a quick solution. And the idea that our state of health, if it is not good, show us that we should change something in our lives, doesn’t even cross our mind.

So, we could say that:

"We want to be healthy, but we don't want to undergo the treatment".

We want it not to hurt and hamper us, but it is not worth to explore where the problem is, what we are doing wrong, and therefore what needs to be done pro-actively to bring about the necessary correction, so the health can return.

To be clear, healing for me does not mean suppressing symptoms in any way, either pharmacologically or surgically or otherwise.

Of course, it is clear to me that if the health issues began many years ago, but my life was unchanged since and the situation deteriorated over time, then all means are needed to save one’s life.

Only few of us really think deeply about where our health problems came from.

To heal, to me means to include in the healing process the correction of all aspects of one’s life.

Like where I live, what I eat, do I physically exercise, how I think about my life, my relationships, my emotions, how I approach the challenges I face, and so on.

I recently spotted quote from Hippocrates on the Internet:

“Before you heal someone, ask him if he's willing to give up the things that make him sick.”

So, it seems that society and people have not learned much in thousands of years.

Or if I prefer to look at it from a positive angle, it just took a while and finally, our recent way of life allow us to inspire each other in our approach to health.

There is a growing desire in people to take responsibility for their health and life

If we are ready to do everything we need for our health, including giving up things, habits and perceptions that do not benefit us, we are on our way to healing!
